Borrowman Electric Ltd.
Go to borrowman.ca →Hello! My name is Katie Ayres, a web developer, who created and now maintains Borrowman Electric’s website. The project felt like coming full circle—I spent 20 years developing signal processing systems for similar hardware, writing software that brought that equipment to life. Helping bring his aftermarket electronics business online felt both familiar and fun. It was a great blend of technical know-how and clean, functional design.

Challenge: Help the website administrator better manage the complex listing of after-market SLC500 and ControlLogix electronic product information as well as the website visitor easily find one part
Solution:
- Remove the unnecessary Elementor page builder
- Create a product group page template allowing for easy grouping
- Provide the website visitor easy searching for part numbers
Remove the unnecessary Elementor page builder
The previous website designer had used Elementor to create the website and that was difficult for the owner to create these complex listings of electronics. This website didn’t have complex layouts, rather it had complex information, so Elementor was unecessary.
I developed a custom theme to remove the extra layer of Elementor to clear out the overall Administration experience as well as remove weight from the website.
I also created a paragraph block variance that you see in black for importance.

Create a product group page template allowing for easy grouping
The website lists hundreds of very specific parts, and nothing was helping the Administrator group and manage this large listing of parts. General pages were used and it was unmanageable.
I created a product group page that had a separate listing of all the product pages, as well as extra fields to help keep track of it all.
